Renowned artist and sculptor Faith Bebbington will be a special guest at Liverpool Art Fair next week.

Faith is perhaps best known for a range of public art commissions including the Wembley Lions recycled sculpture, the ITV Reindeer and a recreation of a working horse known as Jimmy displayed on the Liverpool Plinth.

She will be talking to the BBC’s Claire Hamilton and taking part in an audience Q&A session at the Royal Liver Building on Tuesday 8 August from 5pm to 7pm.

Having studied at Winchester Art College, Bebbington attributes her artistic curiosity to her cerebral palsy condition.

A cancer diagnosis and subsequent recovery in 2014 led her to change her focus away from fibreglass resin to using more sustainable and eco-friendly materials and working practices.

The conversation event, developed by LAF organisers dot-art in partnership with Liverpool City Region BIPC (Business & Intellectual Property Centre), will be followed by the announcement of the winner of the Liverpool Art Fair 2023 People’s Choice Award, as voted by visitors to the event, from among the 175 exhibiting artists.

“Liverpool Art Fair provides a unique insight into the region’s creative talent and the opportunity for everyone, from seasoned collector to first time art buyer, to own their own piece of the Liverpool art world.

“We are delighted to have Faith Bebbington join us for a special event to hear more about the highs and lows of her artistic career and how her connection to Liverpool has influenced her work.”

The partnership between Liverpool Art Fair and the BIPC has seen a range of events for artists throughout the summer, including last months’ “Price, Promotion, Protection” evening, which offered expert advice to practitioners, and a series of drop-in clinics, the last of which takes place on Wednesday 9 August.

Liverpool Art Fair is free to attend and aims to showcase a wide range of affordable original art by a plethora of local artists.

This year’s event runs until 20 August and allows visitors to buy and view a wide array of paintings, sculptures and prints, between 12pm and 6pm, Tuesday to Sunday, in the iconic Royal Liver Building.

It is sponsored by Open Media, CBRE and Evelyn Partners.
